How to Make Your Lash Extensions Last on Vacation

How to Make Your Lash Extensions Last on Vacation

Vacations are meant for relaxing, exploring, and snapping photos, but if you have lash extensions, keeping them looking fresh while you travel can feel tricky. At our beauty salon, we see plenty of clients who want their lashes to stay flawless from the plane ride to the beach. The good news is, with a few simple tips for swimming, sunscreen, humidity, and travel care, you can enjoy your trip without worrying about premature lash shedding.

Keep Them Dry (But Not Too Dry)

If you’re heading to the pool or the ocean, timing is everything. Avoid getting your lashes wet for the first 24–48 hours after your appointment, since the adhesive is still setting. After that, gentle exposure is fine, but don’t rub or scrub your lashes. Saltwater, chlorinated pools, and hot tubs can weaken the adhesive, so consider using a light layer of extension-safe sealant for extra protection when swimming.

Sunscreen and Oils Matter

Sunscreen is essential, but oil-based products can be your lashes’ worst enemy. Oils from sunscreen, makeup remover, or skincare can break down the lash adhesive, causing extensions to fall off faster. Stick to oil-free products around your eyes and use gentle, extension-safe cleansers to keep lashes looking full and healthy.

Combat Humidity and Sweat

Hot, humid weather can make lashes droop or change curl. Avoid heavy steam directly on your lashes, like from saunas or very hot showers. Carry a small misting spray to keep your face cool, and gently pat lashes dry if they get wet from humidity or rain.

Travel Smart

Airplanes, long car rides, and hotel stays can impact your lashes too. Try not to sleep on your face, and if possible, use a silk pillowcase to reduce friction. We recommend keeping a mini spoolie in your bag to comb through lashes lightly if they start to tangle, and carry travel-sized extension-safe cleansing wipes for quick touch-ups.
