The Ultimate Guide to Lash Extension Aftercare

The Ultimate Guide to Lash Extension Aftercare

Lash extensions are a wonderful way to achieve voluminous, long lashes without the need for mascara. To ensure they stay looking their best and last as long as possible, proper aftercare is key. Our salon is here this month with these simple tips to keep your lash extensions gorgeous for weeks!

Keep Lashes Dry for the First 24-48 Hours

After your appointment, it’s important to avoid getting your lashes wet for the first 24 to 48 hours. This gives the adhesive enough time to fully bond. During this time, refrain from washing your face with hot water, swimming, or engaging in activities that cause heavy sweating.

Skip the Mascara

Lash extensions eliminate the need for mascara. Applying mascara can cause your extensions to clump together and shorten their lifespan. If you desire extra volume, opt for a lash extension-friendly serum or primer instead.

Cleanse Your Lashes Gently

Keeping your lashes clean is essential for both the longevity of the extensions and the health of your natural lashes. Use a lash-safe cleanser to remove dirt, oil, and makeup. Clean your lashes gently using a soft brush, and avoid rubbing or pulling on the extensions, as this can cause them to fall out.

Avoid Oil-Based Products

Oil can weaken the adhesive used for lash extensions, causing them to fall out sooner. Choose oil-free makeup removers and skincare products to protect the longevity of your lashes. Be cautious with eye makeup removers, as many contain oils that can damage the adhesive.

Be Careful When Sleeping

Sleeping on your stomach or side can put pressure on your lashes, leading to premature shedding. To protect your extensions, try to sleep on your back. You can also use a silk pillowcase, which reduces friction and helps preserve your lashes.

Brush Your Lashes Daily

To maintain the shape and prevent your lashes from clumping together, use a clean spoolie brush to comb through them daily. Be gentle to avoid pulling on the extensions.

Schedule Regular Fills

As your natural lashes shed, your extensions will naturally fall out. To maintain a full look, schedule a fill every 2-3 weeks. Regular maintenance will keep your lashes looking fresh and beautiful.
